Welcome to the Ed Tech Spotlight Series! This is a series of monthly webinars for the 2022-2023 academic year to introduce and guide instructors in using some of our campus-supported tools. Tuesday, September 13th, 2022 - 10-11am: watch "iClicker: Getting Started" recording 

  • Engage your students in new ways with iClicker Cloud. You can track attendance, ask target (heat map) questions, administer quizzes, and analyze student performance. Students can participate using mobile devices, laptops, or iClicker remotes.

Thursday, October 20th, 2022 - 1-2pm: watch "Introduction to PlayPosit" recording 

  • This training will highlight the fundamentals of PlayPosit with an emphasis on interactions that are automatically graded by the platform. It will be customized for your learning management system and include use cases relevant to your audience.

Monday, November 14th, 2022 - 10-11am: watch "Gradescope for New Users" recording

  • This one-hour overview workshop will focus on using Gradescope in classes with handwritten exams and quizzes and fully online assignments. We'll show you how to set up an assignment, grade consistently with a rubric, provide students with rich targeted feedback, and easily return work electronically.

Thursday, December 8th, 2022 - 12-1pm: watch "Sizing up the Situation: Leveraging PlayPosit Data & Analytics to Support Learners" recording 

  • Do you like data? We do, too. By now, you’ve likely noticed that the data on our monitor screen shows you how your learners are performing. But, do you know all of the features that this screen offers? During this session, we’ll teach you best practices for using the data from your PlayPosit bulbs. We will also show you how to use the advanced features of the PlayPosit Grade Book, worksheets, reports, and notes. With PlayPosit, you get so much more than grades.

Wednesday, January 11, 2023 - 12-1pm: watch "Getting Started with Piazza" recording

  • Piazza is an online learning environment for discussion and Q&A that allows students to collaborate with their peers and instructors any time. In this session, Piazza will be going over a basic walkthrough of the product and how to get started. Time at the end of the session will be dedicated to any questions from attendees.Topics:
    • Wiki-style formatting enables collaboration in a single space
    • Anonymous posting encourages every student to participate
    • Instructors endorse student answers to keep the class on track
    • Features a LaTeX editor, highlighted syntax, and code blocking
    • Detailed statistics to help track student engagement

Wednesday, February 8th, 2023 - 11am-12pm: watch "PlayPosit Playlists & Question Banks: Comprehensive eLearning solution" recording

  • Let us walk you through additional functionalities provided through PlayPosit’s Interactive video: Question Banks & Playlists. The Question Bank functionality allows for an interaction to present several possible versions of a question.  Useful for mitigating issues of academic dishonesty, question banks are currently able to be built with multiple choice and check all interaction types.  We’ll also showcase features of Playlists that create a defragmented learner experience for one-click access to curated content, including PlayPosit bulbs, PDFs, images, docs, sheets, forms, embedded websites, and more. Learners earn a certificate after verified completion. Each Playlist can be customized to require certain behaviors like “competency based consumption” or locked/unlocked progression. Wednesday, April 19th, 2023 - 10-11am: watch "No Video, No Problem: Building Text-Based Bulbs" recording

  • Learn how to configure a text-based bulb into an interactive experience. Using the interactions within the designer, instructors provide students access to a text along with supplementary interactions such as questions, discussions, or reflective pauses. This training will highlight the fundamentals of PlayPosit text-based bulbs using the example of an interactive syllabus but instructors can implement the strategies shared for articles and document based learning experiences.

Monday, May 22, 2021 - 10-11am: watch "Gradescope for Existing Users" recording

  • This one-hour workshop is targeted towards instructors and TAs who are already using Gradescope in their course(s) or have attended an introduction workshop. We'll show you our newest features and lesser-known tips and leave time for you to ask any questions.

Tuesday, June 6th, 2023 - 11am-12pm: Increasing Learner Engagement with Branched Learning in PlayPosit - CANCELLED due to a scheduling conflict. If this topic interests you, please reach out to ucdavis@playposit.org for guidance.

  • You know how to build a bulb. Now let’s make it more engaging and personalized for your learners. This session will focus on features and configurations that allow learners to jump, skip, and self-direct their way to content mastery. Features covered include jumping assessment questions, hotspots, and more.
